A weekend bike trip, Sydney, a new piece of work.
Salad Rolls, Mahjong, nearly some news and running fast when I feel like it
Hello to everyone out there, thank you for reading along. And a special hello to an influx of new subscribers. I opened up my archive of posts so you can go back through and crawl through my brain a bit more.
‘Getting’ cycling.
I went on an overnight bike trip the other weekend with some pals and my gf.
It was the longest I’ve ever ridden, rode, cycled, biked.
We managed to skip and miss the rain with our lunch stop (shout out to a good salad roll) and arrived at the pub/hotel in perfect timing.
Having good bike gear makes one hell of a difference.
I think I get cycling in the longer form of it now.
We played / I learnt to play Mahjong.
I've ridden for years, from no-brakes-skin-grows-back fixies to my beloved 1980s Raleigh commuter. And I often photograph while running from my bike, and touch wood, have never fallen off while balancing a heavy camera across my body while some semi-elite runner picks up the pace. But long rides from A to B and back again, I've never considered. So I'm dipping in and enjoying the temp.
Here are some pics from both the ride and a walk around Warburton (where we stayed after the ride).
Sydney
I was recently up in Sydney, and I love it up there. The weather is just so good, and it's always nice to see a heap of pals. I was there for a launch event re: some news I will share in the coming weeks, which I'm excited about. I also jammed in a run/race with Furies Run Club.
Erniold
Speaking of cycling while photographing runners. Here are two new images I made for Melbourne running label Erniold.

Thanks for reading, viewing, and following.
Next week I'll have a new podcast/conversation episode.
I also just downloaded all my data from my old Flickr account, so expect some posts about that.
There are a lot of old 35mm photos, and I'm trying to discover some sort of style. Photos of The Deftones, Lil B, a J-Crew show in NY, and some early fashion work. It's a journey for sure.
BC
I know that feeling when thoughts finally click into place and make sense. I got back into riding during lockdown, bought a dual suspension mtb and threw myself over some jumps for the first time in years. Loved it, but realised after a while that it was the gruelling ride to and from the spots that I actually enjoyed more. Going to get a gravel bike next, keen to make it out to Warburton and do some bike packing now too! Great read, and keen for more archive dives 🤌🏼
I made the switch from mostly running to mostly biking (also gravel) two years ago. It’s opened up a whole new world for me, including wild camping. Buying bike gear is also a fun hobby. Lovely photos, as always.
