A very bold sunset, a balloon and some mushrooms
Hello dear readers, passer byers, and hidden lurkers.
I am chilling on my apartment floor, my back sitting close to the warmth of our heater. This morning marks one of the first proper chills of the season here in the southern hemisphere, a frigid 5 degrees that signs the arrival of crisp, blue skies and brilliant sunshine. This is not your dreary, grey-ol-day type of weather. Rather, it is the kind that makes you want to step into the shade just to feel the sharpness of the cold on your skin. It's not quite cold enough to make you yearn for a flight back to Europe, but it's close enough.
I keep saying it, but this is my favourite time of year. There are two reasons why. Firstly, it's perfect for running. You might need to slip on some gloves for warmth or sunglasses against the bright sun. But that only makes the coffee and croissant that follow the run taste a bit better and warmer. Secondly, this season is ideal for making photographs. Whether I am aimlessly wandering or carrying my camera around throughout the week with friends, or working on a project with a planned location and start time that allows me to split the day into two parts - the dawn light and the dusk light - this is when I can do my best work.
Below, you'll find a collection of images from recent walks and weekend trips out of town.

Last week, I released another recorded conversation podcast featuring Nick Allbrook of Pond. I must admit that I’ve been reluctant about this project, but I find these conversations to be incredibly enriching, and I love hearing what resonates with those who listen. Give it a listen here.

Thank you and ciao for now.
