I live in an apartment building with an entranceway garden. Being on the corner of the block, many people pass by the garden on their morning walks, park their Lime bikes, or run by en route to the park. I've even seen people take a seat on the brick retaining wall and eat pastries. This street-facing garden provides an opportunity for people to grab a tomato or a sprig of coriander, hoping to remember the garden as they enjoy their meal.
To me, a website is like a garden, a reflection of my home or who I am. As a gardener, I choose what to plant, ensure the soil is fertile, and water and prune it. But, like anyone, I may neglect my garden for a while. It takes a moment of realisation for me to see that everything is out of season, the soil is dry, and it needs a refresh. With the help of friends and some compost, I can bring it back to life and showcase the best version of myself, allowing others to admire and take what they need.
I see my new website as a garden, recently tended to by my friend Dan Leigh. We discussed its purpose, needs, and how it could be maintained, ensuring that viewers and users understand and can benefit from it.
I believe digital spaces can be just as intentional and thoughtful as physical ones. I tend to focus on details, but I also appreciate simplicity. It takes emotional awareness and a deep understanding of beauty to know when something is complete without over-explaining.
The most effective communicators consistently show up as themselves in all forms. This is reflected in my style as a photographer, director, and someone who likes to move between mediums. My website is a home for my projects, showcasing my approach, interests, and how I work. I exist online just as I do in real life.
